2013/72 My Kind of Day

A relaxing low-key morning, spent sipping coffee, journaling and reading, followed by a late breakfast with my bestie and her daughter, followed by a two-hour nap, followed by a drive to Union Station for a little street photography.

It was my kind of day.

2013/66-67 Weekend Recap

Got a little more accomplished this weekend than last. I cracked open the Photo journal I bought just before Christmas last year and started journaling the Hipstamatic prints I ordered from the print lab.

If I had had a more comfortable chair, I may have finished more than the five pages I cranked out. It felt good to glue the pictures down, add a little embellishments to the page and most of all journal. Looking forward to doing more of this.

Usually Daylight Savings Time makes me grumpy. I don't buy into springing forward. Yes, we might get an "extra" hour of daylight in the evening, but what about the fact that it's now dark when I get up? Not to mention the loss of the hour of sleep and how long it takes to get used to the time change.

Today, however, was so beautiful, I forgot about hating the world. Brie even got herself out of bed at a reasonable time so we could do a little shopping. My one caveat, it had to be an outdoor mall. I spent almost twice as much as I said I would on her.

It was a good day. Of course, any day we spend the day together, driving with the top down is a very good day.

2013/54 A Blustery Day

It was a beautiful blustery day, the kind they must have at Hundred Acre Wood. Perfect for a walk around Old Town Orange, breathing in deep, enjoying the sunshine, cool breeze, thanking God for his faithfulness.

I did not want the day to end. I still don't.

2013/40-41 My Kind of Weekend

It was my kind of weekend. I love, love, love waking up to crisp, cold sunny mornings, especially on a Saturday when I don't have much to do.

I made major, major headway in cleaning my room. Not the kind of clean where no sooner than you say you're finished then the room somehow looks exactly like it did before you started, but the kind of clean where tough decisions are made about what to keep and what to get rid of. Moving methodically from one corner of the room, helped a lot, too.

Brie was home for most of the day and I was in such a good mood that I brought her up both breakfast and lunch in bed. Man, was I feeling NICE!

It was such a good day that I went to bed, looking forward to another day of the same.

While Sunday was good enough, it didn't quite measure up to Saturday. That's probably because I didn't make it to church (bad, bad girl!). I finally made an appointment to get my hair cut. $74.00 later and as Brie put it, it doesn't look any different. I felt cheated.

I was secretly hoping to talk Brie into going to Union Station with me, but it was cold and drearier than Saturday so she just wanted to go back home. The rest of the day was low key. Brie and I ended up watching The Words which I enjoyed tremendously. It really spoke to me, especially the part where the old man said something that it was wrong that he loved his words more than the woman he professed to be writing about.

2013/32 - 34 First Days of February

Where did the last three days go? They literally flew by, wiping me out in the process.

February 1st started with a roar. It began with a 6am meeting and the day never let up as I moved from one conference call and one deadline to another. Before I knew it, it was 7pm and the light was gone. There were some magazines that I wanted to get so I went to Barnes and Noble before I called it a night.

I awoke to the 2nd of February, anticipating the day. My plan was to make some progress in straightening out my room (which didn't really happen) and then meet Barbara and her kids at Color Me Mine. I was so looking forward to spending some time with them. It was fun times. We got in a little painting, followed by Chipotle and topped off by lattes and mochas at Dripp. Next thing I knew it was 8pm and I was TIRED!

This morning I had hoped to make a dent in my room, but instead most of the day was spent dealing with some side effects of one of the meds I was taking. I'll spare the details, but it was not pleasant. Thankfully, by the time the Super Bowl started, I was feeling better, but instead of heading out to Union Station as I had hoped for some street photography, the day was spent inside recuperating. Having not eaten anything since breakfast, I was famished around 4pm and my sweet momma made me some pancakes.

2013/24-27 Catching Up

I went up to my room on Thursday around 6:30pm intending to rest for an hour. I didn't get out of bed until 6:40am the next morning. Had it not been a work day, I likely would have stayed in bed even longer.

Friday, was spent with my head down busy with work. Just as the weather channel predicted, there were rain clouds and grey skies, but I wasn't going to let those things get me down. Not when Matt and family were going to be visiting for the weekend. They couldn't come soon enough.

It was a wonderful evening watching the little ones play and catching up with the kids.

The rain clouds continued Saturday morning and by early afternoon we decided to take the kids out to give them a change of scenery. Who knew that the Disney store could be such a wonderful diversion?

After a few hours at the mall, it was time for the kids to take a nap which was the perfect opportunity to take Ashley to my favorite coffee house, Dripp. Loved spending some one-on-one time with her.

After church and a nap this morning, Brie and I took a impromptu trip to Fashion Island. We didn't arrive until right after 5pm which was quite lovely. Being that it was late in the evening and rather cold there were few crowds. The best part was just spending some quality time with my baby girl.

What a wonderful weekend it was.

2013/13 Back for Seconds

I must confess, my mocha at Dripp was so delicious yesterday, I came back for another one today. I should be thankful there isn't one nearby my house or I would quickly go broke.

As I sit here, I contemplate getting a personally brewed cup of joe in addition to the mocha I'm gulping down. I know the caffeine isn't good for me, but it's been a while since I've had a cup of coffee that I've truly enjoyed. This mocha is so good, I imagine the dark roast brew must be pretty tasty, too.

Next time, Debra, next time.

Giving Kisses

Got to see my little babies this weekend.

It was heaven.

It was so cute to see Maximus give his little sister some loving.

The plan was for me to take Maximus for a few days. He wasn't feeling 100%, but we were willing to take the chance, especially since he was happy and peppy while I was at Matt & Ash's.

The drive home was gorgeous.

Alas, Maximus wasn't feeling good the next morning which added to a bit of homesickness was too much for the little guy.

I ended up taking him back two days early which made us sad, but I knew he needed his mommy. On the plus side, it allowed my mom the chance to see Matt & Ash's new house and hold her great granddaughter.

Our Newest Arrival

We've been blessed to have a new batch of babies in the family. We were able to visit with this little lady on Friday.
