2013/19 A Walk in the Sun

After days of uncommonly cool weather, the sun warmed the air making it a perfect time to head back out to the beach. I would have liked it to be a tad cooler which would have meant fewer crowds and easier parking, but it was so incredibly beautiful, it's difficult to complain.

There was barely an ocean breeze and the surf was strangely still when we arrived. There is nothing like the ocean to make me come to life.

2013/2 Sunny Skies

It was the kind of January day that Angelenos expect, sunny and gorgeous, perhaps a little cooler than normal. It's our right that comes with putting up with horrendous traffic, ridiculous state taxes and high gas prices.

It's what used to cause out of staters to move to California in droves as they would come for the Rose parade or watch on TV and think it's always this way. Recently, however, the cost of living has put a stop to the numbers moving out here.

Today, I soaked it in. The sun, the sky, the cool breezes. It was wonderful.

The Day After

Woke up to the sound of rain. Not the way I wanted to start the day, my body seemed to move in tandem with the gray skies. The plan was to have a mother-daughter day with some friends.

By the time we left, the clouds were dissipated, giving way to beautiful skies with puffy white clouds. We ended up at The Langham, a gorgeous hotel in San Marino. Denise promised us picturesque grounds. She was not kidding.

The day did wonders for me. It was the first time in a long time that I walked around without thinking about the moment that I could sit down and rest.

It was a lovely, lovely day.

A Little Bit of Normal

The day started off a little normal. This morning I rose from my bed instead of the recliner I've been pretty much sleeping in for the last two weeks. It was hard to get moving, but I managed to do it.

Thankfully, things progressed positively from there. I spent the day at home, working, but able to rise up from my chair without too much discomfort. I didn't get to head outside for a breath of fresh air to start the day, but I did start with the Word...Let all that I am praise the Lord with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Psalm 102:1

I am thankful today...

That I was able to move around without too much pain
For my mom's prayer that covered me this morning
For the beautiful high noon sky

That I was able to go to the grocery store with Brienne, followed by a quick stop at Starbucks

That I was able to make Brienne lunch
That I was able to take a half hour walk after work, enjoying the evening sky that God blessed us with

That I was able to go visit Brienne at work
For the call from my sister
That I found myself at the end of evening at Starbucks

That today felt just a little normal

Reflections of the Day

View as I drove out to Target during lunch time. I thought it was interesting. To the West, the sky was blue, clear.

To the East, the sky was a little hazy. Couldn't tell if it was cloud or haze. Maybe a little of both.

I stopped at Starbucks for a quick cup of coffee (a no no) and to do a little writing.

As I left, I saw a fire truck in the parking lot. I couldn't resist it. I took several pictures. As I did, a woman and her boyfriend or husband were walking by. The woman was smiling at me as though she understood. The man looked perplexed. Yes, I am a sucker for firefighters and their trucks.

I thought it would be another day in which I didn't capture the evening sky. Until I came upstairs and looked out my window.

I went flying out side for a better shot.

And then I took some shots of vintage cameras I have.
